Hence, what does a round ligament pain feel like? The pain usually is sharp or feels like stabbing. As mentioned, the pain is felt in the abdomen and sometimes even to the groin. This painful sensation should only last for a few seconds. Although it is impossible to avoid round ligament pain as a whole, reducing the likelihood of getting one by avoiding sudden movements causing the pain can greatly help. Try to lean forward and support the baby bump by placing hands underneath it if you think you are about to laugh, sneeze or cough. If you are about to change positions, do it slowly. Avoid lifting heavy objects and long-standing during pregnancy to lessen pressure being put on the uterus and the round ligaments.
